The best part about this DIY house plant leaf shine is that you can make it using things that you already have hanging around your house. You’ll save a fortune making it at home, and it’s a great option to reduce plastic waste.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:

-2 cups of water

-1 teaspoon of castile soap (regular dish soap will work just fine if that’s all that you have)

-1 teaspoon of coconut oil (for EXTRA added shine!)

Mix the ingredients together in a large spray bottle. I like to put my mixture in a glass container (for zero waste purposes, as I mentioned above) but I also think that this keeps the mixture way more pure.

How to use your DIY plant leaf cleaner

You can use your DIY plant leaf cleaner on most foliage plants (monstera, rubber plant, snake plant, zz, etc) but you shouldn’t use on cacti or succulents. I will post a different recipe for a succulent-specific plant leaf cleaner instead. Check back soon!

To use your DIY plant leaf cleaner on foliage, plants, spray the mixture on a paper towel. You should aim to thoroughly dampen it. Apply the damp paper towel directly to the plant leaves. Repeat on each plant with a FRESH paper towel or washcloth to prevent the spread of plant pests. However, if you are dealing with plant pests, this guide can help!
