String of Turtles Care

Light

String of Turtle plants, believe it or not, actually don’t prefer direct sun. Keep your plant in an area where it gets plenty of indirect sunlight for best growth. It also likes temperature quite warm and consistent, so keep it out of drafty areas.

Water

Typically, you have to water “string of” plants more than you commonly would. Keep the String of Turtles plant plenty moist, but never leave the soil sopping wet.

Fertilizer

Fertilize twice a year—once at the beginning of the growing season, and then once again at the very end of the growing season.

Humidity

Low to medium humidity levels are preffered by this plant. Typically, I find that if I group this plant with some of my other ones, the group of them provide just enough humidity for this plant.

Soil Type

Plant in a free-draining, cactus-like soil substance for the best results all year long.

Do String of Turtles Flower?

Yes! If growing conditions are ideal, the string of turtles will flower. The flowers appear daisy-like, and in small clusters.

How to Propagate String of Turtles

The String of turtles is one of the easiest plants out there to propagate. Cut off anything that is trailing and place it directly in the soil. Moisten the soil and you should see roots develop in a few days. Remember to keep as much of the plant cutting in contact with the soil as possible.
