Easy tips for hanging plant vines on wall

Hanging plant vines are one of my very favorite things to decorate with. Not only can you loop them anywhere and everywhere, but if you’re going for the indoor garden theme like I am, this is the perfect way to bring that to life.

If you are thinking about growing your own hanging vines, I highly recommend that you work with plants like Pothos, Swedish Ivy, Spider Plant, or Climbing Jasmine. I personally find that pothos works best–I have a huge vine looping around my mirror as we speak! Check out my photo below.

How to hang vines on a wall

To hang vines on your wall at home, you will need some of the following tools. While it’s possible to hang the vines without said tools, I find it much easier to have these in your back pocket!

Here’s what you need:

-3 packs of Command Clear Mini Hooks (this isn’t a sponsored post, these really are just super kick ass)

-A vining plant (as I mentioned above, pothos or prayer plants (calathea) work the best for this kind of project.

Move your plant up against the wall. Depending on how you want your vines to look, you can place it next to the wall, or even hang it from a shelf or other hanging tool. Keep in mind that wherever you put your plant is the direction in which your vines will trail–plants on the floor will have vines going UP the wall, and plants hanging above will have vines trailing DOWN. There’s no wrong placement, just make sure you pick the spot right for your vision.

Now that you have your spot figured out, take your vines and begin deciding how you want to lay them out on your walls. Make a small mark on the wall with a pencil for where you need to put each hook.

Once your designated spots are determined, install the command hooks using the instructions on the package. Remember to make sure the “hook” is facing outward so that it will secure the vine instead of just letting it hang.

How to care for hanging plant vines

Now that you have your vines on the wall, you might be wondering how to best care for them! Fortunately, caring for your new creation is almost as easy as caring for a normal plant. Only water the plant when the soil feels dry, and trim any vines as they begin to get unruly or place new hooks on the wall to better tame them.
